The Norfolk and Norwich Terrier Fun Day

Saturday 24th August 2024 at Baginton Village Hall

Report by Gail Simpson, NTCGB President and ‘MC’ of the Fun Day

Well, it could have been a disastrous way for us to celebrate the NTCGB Diamond Jubilee year – the first year I can remember for a very long time when the weather forced us to undertake the morning classes inside the Village Hall – but need I have worried that people wouldn’t come or wouldn’t enjoy it – no! We still had just under 80 dogs registered to compete, it was hugely chaotic and crowded but in a great way and I must thank every single person who attended for just mucking in and getting on with it to make the best of the situation. Thankfully, the sun came out at lunchtime and we were able to do the racing in the afternoon.

As it was our Diamond Jubilee year, we wanted to make it just that little bit special, so I hope everyone enjoyed the Goodie Bag, the Class Trophies, the Best In Show/Reserve Best In Show and the cake!!!   Events like this don’t just happen though, so I must say a huge thank you to Sarah Aldred in particular for both making the great celebration cake/cup cakes and also for providing all the trophies for the class winners, a lovely little extra surprise for those lucky enough to get one.   I must also thank my mum Joan who helped me by co-funding the coaster and sweets in the goodie bags, and helped me to put them all together.  Big thanks too to Fiona Macartney for funding the dog treats in the goodie bags, and to my co-host Martyn Howes who did his usual sterling job marshalling all the entries and getting all the results down.  Finally, thanks to AJ Catering for the lovely food and drink on offer and to everyone who helped during the day and to clear up at the end of the day, your assistance was especially welcome.

There are lots of photos taken by Sarah on the NTCGB Club’s Facebook page, with just a few here to give you a taste.
