After the two Club shows (MCNTA Champ Show and NTCGB Xmas Show) it was back to the General Championship Show circuit for the last show of the year, LKA, which was at the NEC as usual. The organisation this year left a little to be desired, with the ‘official’ benches a long way from the ring and plenty of unoccupied benches close by; this meant that Norfolk exhibitors pitched themselves wherever they could and so were a little spread about. Also, the carpeting in the show ring itself was covering some drainage channels which rattled when trodden on. This resulted in a number of spooked dogs, particularly in the Puppy classes.

David Winsley had a reasonable entry of 24 dogs and 31 bitches, with few absentees. The results pretty much finished the year on trend, with the major prizes going mostly to names that have featured throughout the year. As with the write up for Midland Counties, you will know most of the breeding off by heart by now, so I’ve not included it all.

Ronnie, CH WATERCROFT CALLING TIME picked up his eighth CC of the year for Ruth Gee and came away with the Best of Breed. BELLEVILLE MAJOR KEY, who secured his first CC earlier in the year at WKC, took the RDCC for Cathy Thompson-Morgan from a very good Limit class; another Belleville dog, Alison Hadfield’s puppy BELLEVILLE BORN TO BE FREE (Watercroft Gold Coin x Belleville Free Roll) followed up his successes at the Club’s Christmas Show to take Best Dog Puppy. Nice to see a new name in the frame!

In the bitches, WATERCROFT PINK FIZZ secured that all important third CC to become Ruth Gee’s latest champion, her third of the year if I’m not mistaken. RBCC went to Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS LOOK NO FURTHER, another of this year’s new Champions. Jackie had a further success with her Bitch Puppy JUST THE ONE AT BLAKENS (Charlie Blake At Moortop x Didjems Moorhen to Blakens) which won a good Bitch Puppy class and went Best Puppy over the dog puppy.

Another finishing the year on a good note was Crumble, Karen Hurrion’s CH VALENTINES CHERRY CRUMBLE who took Best Veteran.

Happy New Year everyone
